AN elementary school teacher has been jailed for 40 years for having sex with a 14-year-old student. Shannon Alicia Schmieder, 39, will have to serve 20 years in the toughest sentence ever handed out by a US court to a teacher accused of underage sex, the Daily Mail reported.

Girl, 9, gives birth

A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has given birth to a healthy child in northeast China, MX reported today (AEDT).
The baby, reportedly a boy, was delivered via cesarean on January 27 and weighed in at 2.75kg, MX reported.

A group of around 20 dolphins have been helping local fisherman with their yearly catch in Brazil.
The dolphins assist by herding the fish towards the fisherman before signaling to them with special head movements or tail slaps to permit them know where to cast their nets. Research in to this unique co-operation has revealed that both preserve a reliance on the other for their survival.

The dad-of-two couldn't believe what was happening when the arrow, thought to have been misfired by someone at a local archery club, came whizzing towards him during a day out in Russia.
